The long term legacy of Ridges & Furrows will be the creation of a new 30 mile arts and heritage trail linking the two major arts venues in North Kesteven. The route will have a special focus on towns and villages participating in the project and will pass many points of interest taken from research into the social and economic history of the district. Trail signage will be put along the route in April 2018, and the route is currently being mapped out on the iFootpath app.
Running along the Lincolnshire Edge the route picks up on many existing Stepping Out Walks and includes sections of the Viking Way. It mirrors the Spires & Steeples trail on the other side of the district.
The trail will visit the following places, starting (or ending) in Sleaford at The National Centre of Craft & Design:
- South Rauceby
- North Rauceby (signposting to Cranwell Aviation Heritage Museum)
- Temple Bruer (including the Knight’s Templar Preceptory)
- Welbourn, Wellingore
- Navenby (sign posting to Mrs Smith’s Cottage)
- Boothby Graffoe
- North Hykeham – Terry O’Toole Theatre at the OneNK Centre
The trail will continue on to Whisby Nature Reserve, where there is plenty of parking and other facilities at Whisby Natural World Centre.
